Real Stories. Real Skills.

  • "I took the course in Grade 10 (2012) and it had a major impact on me. The effort they put into explaining the work in a practical and understandable way not only gave me the necessary knowledge but also the confidence to pursue a career in sound. I genuinely believe that this course delivers a level of knowledge that should, in fact, be general knowledge."

    - Wian Steenkamp (Owner of First Draft Audio)

  • "20 years later, now working at NYU in the United Arab Emirates as a technical specialist , the foundation put in place by Stagecraft still applies. The careful attention paid to explaining topics in a palatable manner gave me an invaluable head start in both working and studying in the field. Their passion for not only the objective, but the subjective provides an incredible insight into how we perceive and appreciate music and sound."

    - Philip Burger (Theater Technical Specialist, NYU Abu Dhabi)

  • "I did this course nearly a decade ago and it furnished me with skills and a mindset that I've carried into other industries. This course lays a foundational groundwork that can be creatively applied in many media related fields and opens doors one didn't even know existed. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to get an early start in a media career."

    - JD Erasmus (Yuri Arcurs Productions)

  • “In over 22 years as Head of Culture at a leading school, I have rarely seen a programme deliver such clear and lasting value. By developing real sound and lighting expertise within the school, we reduced financial risk, protected expensive equipment, and finally used our systems to their full potential. Even more importantly, the practical, learner-focused nature of the course has produced graduates who continue working professionally in sound, lighting, theatre, film, and national productions long after leaving school. I strongly recommend this course to any school serious about meaningful, future-ready education.”

    - Jan Buger (Former Head of Culture, Durbanville High School)

  • "This course was really informative and a lot of fun. You learn in fun ways, so it never feels like too much information at once. It’s very hands-on, easy to follow, and super engaging. I learnt so much about the industry and would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in drama, theatre, or technical production."

    - Celeste de Villiers

Two Decades of Stagecraft

In 2004, we were approached by Durbanville High School to develop a short course that would teach students the practical craft behind operating and maintaining their newly acquired, high-end sound and lighting equipment.

The course struck a chord. It ran again the following year — and the year after that — and more than 20 years later, it’s still going strong. What began as a practical solution has grown into a long-running programme that introduces high school learners, parents, and teachers to the world of stagecraft.

Over the years, hundreds of students from schools, churches and local venues have completed the course. Many have gone on to build successful careers in the industry, both locally and internationally.

The course is developed and taught by working industry professionals who operate at the highest level of their fields, ensuring the skills taught remain current, relevant, and hands-on.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the crew.
